Virtual Assistant: What They Do & Why You Should Hire Them

This summer I was simultaneously working to complete two programs to further my professional development and my business. The first program was a 16-week course to become a Certified Business Coach and the second was a 9-week profitability accelerator program to successfully launch Blk Women in Biz. All the while, I was still running a business, being a wife and a mom, and doing my best to take care of my health and wellness. This has taken a lot of time and patience and would not have been possible without the help of my Virtual Assistant (VA), Steph Tabor!

If you’re ready to offload repetitive tasks and free up your time to focus on business growth and strategy, I highly suggest investing in a VA. Keep scrolling to learn more…

What exactly does a Virtual Assistant do?

Well, that depends. All VAs are not built the same. There are some VAs who focus on traditional administrative tasks such as scheduling emails, keeping your inbox clear, and acting as a facilitator between you, your clients, and inquiries. Today, you’ll find there are more VAs who have social media, design, and even video or podcast editing skills in addition to those traditional tasks you may need assistance with.

What types of tasks can I assign to my VA?

Here are a few tasks to consider asking your VA to help with:

  • Repetitive Tasks (sending invoices, scheduling content, etc.)

  • Inbox Monitoring

  • Project Management

  • Organizing Client Requests

  • Content Curating

Before you start your VA search, it is important to get clear about your business needs so that you know what to look for.

As I’ve been working to restructure my business, my VA (Steph) has helped me to create my SOP (standard operating procedures) Library, event planning and set-up, and strategic planning for 2025. I have also been working on growing my skills as a professional “delegator” so it was important for me to find a VA who could take initiative and keep me on task, while also identifying areas that need improvement.

Where can I find a VA?

  1. You can start by talking with my VA (click here) to see if the two of you may be a good fit to work together.

  2. Visit The Virtual Savvy and submit an application.

Now that I am officially a Certified Business Coach, I’m accepting coaching clients! If you’re interested in learning more, please click here to complete my Client Intake Form to see if you’re a good fit!
